Ar. Ashritha K’s venture into the world of design began with a bachelor’s in Architecture from SJB School of Architecture & Planning, Bengaluru, in 2020. Motivated by a profound interest in crafting spaces that form a genuine connection with their occupants and surroundings, she founded AKAR Design Studio in the same year, 2020. Her vision for AKAR was clear—to forge an integrated approach that brought together architecture, urban planning, interior design, and landscape design, creating environments that resonate on both a functional and emotional level.
Although her academic foundation in architecture was the initial stepping stone, Ashritha’s pursuit of a master’s in town and country planning further refined her approach to design. Undertaken at the Visvesvaraya Institute of Advanced Technology, Muddenahalli, this course allowed her to explore sustainable urban systems and the design of public spaces. It was here that her philosophy of creating resilient, people-centered cities took root. This evolving understanding of design led to the award of the VTU Gold Medal in 2023, a recognition of her dedication and excellence in urban planning.
