Ar. Aastha Desai’s journey started in interior design as a reflection of her passion, perseverance, and a deep appreciation for the harmony between art and functionality. Currently, she is practicing architecture and interior designer as an individual professional.
From her young age, she always knew she wanted to be an architect. Since the 9th grade, she has been fascinated by drawing, sketching, and the arts, which naturally led her to pursue her dream. In 2018, she graduated with a degree in architecture, but during her academic journey, she developed a deep interest in Indian history and culture—a subject that soon became intertwined with her passion for architecture.
In 2013-18, she embarked on her professional journey in architecture and completed a bachelor’s in architecture at L.J. School of Architecture, Ahmedabad. During this time, she fell deeply in love with India’s historically built architecture. To further solidify her expertise, she pursued a master’s degree in architecture in conservation and regeneration at CEPT University in the same field from 2020-23.
From June to November 2016, she interned at Hemal Shah and Associates, Ahmedabad, contributing to client presentations, site visits, and the conceptual design process. In 2018, she worked as a teaching associate for the engineering drawing (UG) course at CEPT University, providing administrative and logistical support. From November 2018 to November 2020, I was with Conservation Architects Poonam and Aashish Trambadia, engaging in design development, condition mapping, documentation, site coordination, and research for conservation projects.
The Beginning of Aastha Architects
Continuing her passion for architecture and heritage conservation, she was fortunate to expand her expertise into residential and commercial office interiors. This marked the beginning of a new chapter in her career, one that led to the establishment of Aastha Architects.
Becoming an entrepreneur, especially while balancing family responsibilities, is undoubtedly a challenging endeavor. However, this journey has been made possible by the unwavering support and trust of her partner, Mr. Rushi Khatri, her parents, and her entire family. With their backing, she has been able to take bold steps forward in my career and grow Aastha Architects into a practice rooted in creativity, innovation, and a deep respect for both the past and future of design.
